Why is Patient & Public Involvement & Engagement Important?

At NIHR St George’s Clinical Research Facility (CRF) we have a wide range of clinical trials aimed at looking into new ways of treating a variety of wide range of conditions including. Patients and the public should be at the centre of how the facility operates from study setup, outreach to recruiting patients.

Many clinical trials that occur in the CRF involve patients and the wider community and who are key part in ensuring successful delivery and design of our research. This is where our Patient, Public Involvement, Engagement & Participation (PPIEP) strategy is key in shaping the CRF’s research portfolio.

Our Aims

  • Ensuring views and participation of patient and public in CRF research is incorporated through co-designing and feedback.

  • Improving equity of access to clinical trials and further opportunities to influence our research.

  • Provide engagement and education opportunities and information about current and future research plans.

  • Build on established local partnership and outreach models to engage a diverse group of patients and community members to ensure underrepresented groups are included.
